From time to time, we will be putting one of our members in the spotlights because they have something valuable to add to the African entrepreneurship debate; because they are doing something amazing; or because of their tenacity and determination. Whilst most Featured Members will be from Africa, some will be from the diaspora. Africa is bigger than the continent itself. Our first Featured Member is Elizabeth Olagunju. Hailing from Nigeria but based in the US, she set up her coaching/consulting venture Achieve Success Life Business Coaching in 2011. She never looked back.We asked her five questions about how it is to be an entrepreneur.
Q. What made you become an entrepreneur instead of being employed?
A. I love empowering people and sharing my experiences and skills. I know that each person has something special to share. For me, running my own business is the way I can achieve the best and maximise my potential.
Q. Why did you choose this industry?
A. I was trained as a teacher after which I got certified as a life and business coach. The reason why I chose this industry is that I have many experiences I wanted to share. Coaching and consulting have given me the opportunity to share what I have and know with others.
Q. What is the biggest lesson that you have learned during this journey?
A. I have learned to never give up and that we should always continue to add value to others.
Q. Could you please share an entrepreneurial highlight with us?
A. A highlight was sharing my skills with others during an international engagement in Dubai. The talk I gave at Dubai Internet City was totally sold out.
Q. Where do you want to be in 5 years time?
A. I want to reach more countries and establish a centre in Africa, in a country where my services are needed.
